NICK SCHNEBELEN of TRAMPLED UNDER FOOT

NICK SCHNEBELEN of TRAMPLED UNDER FOOT

“Slick” Nick Schnebelen is a well known Kansas City based roots and blues influenced artist. As the lead guitarist, majority song writer and co-vocalist of the band Trampled Under Foot, Nick established himself as a heavy weight contender in the Blues, Roots and Americana worlds of music. A multi-instrumentalist, Nick combines drums, guitar and singing into a show that makes for one helluva’ one man band! The 2008 Albert King Award winner for most outstanding guitarist, Nick can be booked as a solo artist, or as the powerful frontman of his own band, The Nick Schnebelen Band.

Nick started playing multiple instruments at a young age, playing piano with his mother and later learning guitar from his father. In the 1990’s Nick’s parents were fixtures in the Kansas City music scene.  As a teen, Nick attended Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts, while also performing at night with his father.

Following his graduation from Paseo in 1996, Nick moved to Philadelphia, PA and formed the band “Killing Floor.” Quickly gaining notoriety as one of Philly’s top blues acts, Killing Floor (K-Floor) won many city wide awards and toured nationally, opening for countless acts including Johnny Winter (several times), Robin Trower, Robert Cray, Derek Trucks, George Thorogood, Steve Miller and James Brown.

In 2003 Nick played guitar with NYC based Brit-Pop Singer-Songwriter group Buddahead, opening for Everlast on a national tour and recording with Jon Popper from Blues Traveler.  During this time Nick also began playing blues with his brother and sister, forming the band Trampled Under Foot (TUF).

In 2008 TUF won 1st place at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, and Nick won the Albert King Award for the most outstanding guitarist. In 2010 TUF put out their first major album “Wrong Side of the Blues” with producer Tony Braunagel on Vizztone Records.

July 2013 TUF and producer Tony Braunagel released their latest record “Badlands” on Concord-Telarc which went to #1 on iTunes and Billboard Blues Charts.

While in the studio on a recording session in Philadelphia, Nick began playing the kick-drum and guitar together, and he’s been writing stomp-style roots music ever since! Mainly influenced by his childhood in the southern Missouri hills, Nick incorporates a variety of guitars in his soloshow, from electric to lap steel to fingerpicks and slides, all while playing the kick drum and singing, to create a uniquely down home sound, rocking and friendly. Nick also applies these roots to his powerful full band performances as well.
