CHRIS JANSON

CHRIS JANSON

Electrifying Warner Bros. Records singer/songwriter Chris Janson made headlines when “his song “Buy Me A Boat” quickly landed at #1 on the iTunes Country chart and #7 on the all genre chart. In addition, “Chris Janson” trended in the Top 10 as superstars Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and Nashville's Charles “Chip” Esten where abuzz on Twitter about the catchy tune. A formidable songwriter in his own right, Janson co-wrote the song with Chris Dubois, who has penned many #1 songs. With undeniable charisma, Janson brings a blue-collar, working-class, boot-stomping hillbilly swagger to bear on every live performance, earning him opening slots for Florida Georgia Line, music legends Merle Haggard and Hank Williams Jr.  The Perryville, Missouri native first broke onto the music scene when he landed a year long, four-show-a-day gig at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge on Nashville's Lower Broadway.

Janson recently stood on the Ryman stage opening for legend Merle Haggard for a two-night, soldout stint. Janson said to the crowd, “it maybe a few short steps from the back door of Tootsie’s but it’s taken me a 10 long years to get here.” He has the upmost respect for traditional country music and the legends that have perform on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry where Janson has logged more than 90 appearances, with most of them resulting in standing ovations from the audience. “For me it’s about the music and connecting with people,” said Janson. “I love being on stage and singing about things I know. As long as I’ve got a guitar and a fan to listen, I’ll be making music.”

It’s that drive and love for music that caught the attention of Warner Music Nashville. “Artistry, passion and hard work are the driving force here at Warner Music Nashville and Chris Janson exemplifies those very qualities,” said WMN President and CEO John Esposito. “The guy played 16 hours a day at Tootsie’s for a year and he’s played the Opry almost a hundred times. Man, that’s dedication and playing for the love of the music. Our VP of A&R Cris Lacy has been championing and following his decade long path in Nashville and we’re ecstatic to welcome such a unique talent to the WMN family.”

The talented songwriter and self-taught musician is currently focused on writing and recording songs for his forthcoming debut album for Warner Bros. which will include the hit “Buy Me A Boat.  As the most recent iHeartRadio “On The Verge Artist,” Janson’s “Boat” will be heard across 140 Country radio stations for six consecutive weeks, beginning May 4, 2015. The video for his new single will be produced by CMT, marking the first time the network has financed a music video for an artist.

He began writing at just 18 with an impressive group of artists from the likes of Guns N’ Roses to the esteemed Larry Gatlin. Janson achieved an impressive 10 cuts in only 2 months with major recording artists including Randy Houser, Justin Moore, Joe Nichols, Frankie Ballard, and Tim McGraw’s highest chart debut of his career, “Truck Yeah.” “I write about what I know my family, my truck, & the way I live,” said Janson.
